Municipal Council of Children and Youth
In addition to this, you need to know more about it.The Municipal Children's Council (CME) and the Municipal Youth Council (CMJ) give Courtrysian pupils the opportunity to express themselves on the life of their city. It also allows an active learning of democracy, and the municipality to listen to the proposals of the children and to consult them. "There was a real desire within the municipality for adults to listen to the wishes and proposals of young people" specifies Nathalie Karajabarlian, deputy mayor in charge of school life and children and youth .
CME: This concerns all CM1 children in Courtry establishments. There will be a total of 16 children elected (4 children per class) and the girl / boy parity is respected. All elementary classes (with the exception of CP) can vote for their elected representatives.
CMY: This concerns all 5th year students of Maria Callas College who reside in Courtry. There will be a total of 12 young people elected and the girl / boy parity is respected. They are elected by their comrades from Maria Callas college who reside in Courtry.
The young elected representatives meet throughout their mandate (2 years). They meet once a month. During these two years, they reflect, define, vote on their projects and implement their reflections with the help of elected officials and the services of the city of Courtry. The Municipal Children's Council will be a place for discussion. Children will be able to express themselves, debate and be actors in projects that concern them. The debates will be linked to the implementation of concrete actions.
Through the establishment of the Municipal Children's Council, the municipality wishes to:
• Allow the child to become an actor in the life of their municipality. Contribute in this way to the development of the child, a full person in the city.
• Carrying out a common project, from ideas to realization.
• Allow the child to become a citizen, showing good citizenship, with the rights and obligations that this entails and by allowing him to become involved in common choices.
• Take into account the child's words and better understand their concerns.
• Protect the child, while preserving the neutrality of the council (political, racial, religious) but without concealing the responsibility of the adults supervising this project.
• Empower the child, who will thus have a certain representativeness and encourage his own reflection.
The sixteen elected members of the first CME organized events and collections for the benefit of Restos du Cœur and decided to create signs to educate dog owners against dog droppings with an effective slogan: "A city without droppings, it 's. is top! ". These signs are installed throughout the Town of Courtry.
The young elected representatives of the CMJ regularly organize charity evenings and solidarity actions in favor of various associations. It can be Restos du Cœur, such as the Child at the Hospital or animal rights associations.
In 2020, the CMJ was at the origin of the skate-park construction project, which began near the city stadium and the Robert Jacobsen Space.
Often, the CME and the CMJ have common projects and set up solidarity actions together.
