Civil status
Here you will find all the main information and the procedure to get married in Courtry. However, you should contact the town hall concerned for any filing.
Principle:
Two people of the different sex or of the same sex, whatever their nationality (*), can get married in France, provided they are at least 18 years old and legally capable.
Each of the future spouses must:
• give consent,
• have no close relationship or alliance with the future spouse,
• not be married in France or abroad.
* Please note: depending on the nationality of the interested parties, it may or may not be possible to celebrate a same-sex marriage: for more information, contact the civil status department.
The marriage can be celebrated (at the choice of the future spouses) in the municipality of the place of domicile or residence:
• one of the future spouses, provided that he / she has been resident there continuously for at least one month
• from one of the couple's parents
To withdraw a file, please contact the Action to the population service at the reception of the town hall.
The celebration of the marriage must be made by a civil status officer, at the town hall, in the presence of at least two witnesses, and at most four, parents or not of the spouses, aged at least 18 years.
During the celebration of the marriage, the family record book is issued free of charge to the spouses.
The family record book brings together, on the same document, the extracts from civil status documents of persons married or belonging to the same family, that is to say who have the same parents. It can be used to justify your family situation or requested in certain administrative procedures.
The family record book must be regularly updated by the keepers.
Principle:
A family record book is automatically established by the town hall of the place of the event following
• a marriage;
• the birth of a first child (with the exception of the birth of a lifeless child for which it is issued at the request of parents who do not have one);
• full adoption.
Request for a second booklet:
In the event of loss, theft, separation, divorce, modification in the civil status of a person, the request must be made by the holder (s) to the town hall of his / her domicile.
The applicant must come with:
• an identity document
• all the information concerning the civil status of the persons to be entered in the family record book (name, first name, date and place of birth, marriage or death, etc.).
The town hall then takes care of transmitting this request to the town halls concerned by the various events.
The issuance of a family record book is free.
Update :
Holders are required to update the family record book when changes have occurred in civil status (marriage, legal separation, divorce, change of name or surname, recognition, adoption, death, etc.).In addition to this, you need to know more about it.
Therefore, you should go to the town hall of your place of residence accompanied by the supporting documents concerning this change. This town hall will be responsible for transmitting to the competent town hall for rectification.
The registration of civil solidarity pacts (PACS) will be transferred to the civil status officer of the town hall from November 1, 2017. The transition from the PACS to town hall (and no longer to the court) is a measure of 21st century justice modernization law published in the Official Journal of November 19, 2016 (article 48).
A decree published in the Official Journal of May 10, 2017 specifies the procedures for transferring to civil status officers the registration of declarations, modifications and dissolutions of civil solidarity pacts.
Who can enter into a PACS?
